Self-Care & Nurture - A Love Story

Welcome to Sage & Sweetgrass -- I'm SO happy we found each other!

As this is my very first newsletter there are a couple of things I’d like to get out of the way. First up, is an introduction: My name is Kelly and I’m the owner/innovator and alchemist of a wonderful new company called Sage and Sweetgrass.  A premier Salon & Spa offering natural & organic bath, body & skincare and Services.  The second thing is, if I’ve emailed you in error I deeply apologize, as I respect the sacred right of privacy in all of our inboxes. Please just hit the unsubscribe button and I will consider myself forgiven.

I’m writing today not to sell you anything, or convince you why natural or organic ingredients are the safer, more luxurious alternative to your beauty regime. I’m writing to tell you a story. A personal story so that we may get to know each other better -- a story of love, self-care, nurturing and why making yourself a priority is the most valuable gift you can give yourself and to the world.

In 2008 my mom passed away very suddenly and to say it was a devastating shock would be such an understatement. My mom was a loving, giving soul who grew up on a farm with 6 siblings, worked hard all of her life, raised two daughters and came from the generation of women who seemed to always take care of others first. As my sister and I grew into successful women we loved to spoil our mom with little things that would bring her pleasure and pamper her. You know, the usual little luxury items – Artisan Soaps, Aromatherapy Candles, Scarves from Europe, Lotions, Essential Oils, Bath Salts and the list goes on.

When it came time to clean out my mom’s ‘stuff’, we got the biggest shock of all. All these beautiful things were still neatly packaged in her drawers, tucked under the bathroom towels, on shelves and in memory boxes. In mom’s world, they were just too "good" to use for everyday. She was saving them for a special occasion.

I tell this story so that you understand that every day should be considered a special occasion! You are here, you ARE special and you ARE a priority. So whether or not you purchase from us, receive a gift, or have a ‘look at’ candle sitting on your table, let me be the first to give you permission to burn the good candles, use the good soap, wear the scarf even if it’s with your jammies or yoga pants, use the good dishes everyday and most of all, let these items fulfill their destiny. They were made for you, purchased for you and given to you so that you would know how very special you are!

I hope this story has given you a glimpse into who we are, why we do what we do because you really are that special to us, and deserve all of the wonderful things the World, and Mother Nature has to offer.
